Vulcan Floating Barge Packages: Custom Pump Platforms Designed Around Your Application

Vulcan Floating Barge Packages: Custom Pump Platforms Designed Around Your Application

Some pumping applications require more than a standard installation. When a pump needs to operate over a large body of liquid, Vulcan Floating Barge Packages provide a custom-engineered platform designed around the specific needs of the project. As a distributor of Vulcan Pumps, Tencarva helps customers evaluate the right pump package for demanding liquid-handling applications, including floating barge systems for industrial, municipal, mining, quarry, and process environments. These floating pump platforms can be towed into place and anchored, allowing the pump system to operate where it is needed. With an integral hoist, the pump can be lowered or raised for easier access, service, and operation.

Engineered Around Your Specifications

Vulcan Pumps works with customers to design floating barge packages that match the application, site conditions, pump requirements, and project goals. Each system is developed through a clear process that moves from discovery to design, approval, fabrication, and shipment.

Discovery

The process begins by meeting with the customer to understand the needs and requirements of the specific project. This helps ensure the floating barge package is built around the actual application, not a one-size-fits-all design.

Design

Using 3D design software, Vulcan creates a rendering of the project along with detailed engineering drawings and specifications. This gives the customer a clear view of the proposed system before fabrication begins.

Approval

Renderings, drawings, and specifications are reviewed with the customer for final approval. This step helps confirm that the design meets the project requirements before the package moves into fabrication.

Fabrication

Once the drawings and specifications are approved, Vulcan’s fabrication team builds the floating barge package according to the approved design.

Shipment

After completion and testing, the Floating Barge Package is delivered to the job site and installed.

Built for Demanding Pumping Applications

Floating Barge Packages are ideal for applications where a pump must be positioned over water, slurry, wastewater, process fluid, or another large liquid body. The floating platform design allows the system to be placed where it is needed while providing access for operation and service.

Custom Pump Platforms for Real-World Conditions

Every job site is different. Vulcan’s engineering approach allows each floating barge package to be tailored to the customer’s performance requirements, pump configuration, access needs, and installation conditions.

For industrial facilities, quarries, mines, wastewater operations, ash ponds, and other demanding environments, Vulcan Floating Barge Packages offer a practical solution for pump installations that require flexibility, access, and engineered support.

Vulcan HDS Heavy-Duty Submersible Slurry Pumps

Vulcan HDS Heavy-Duty Submersible Slurry Pumps

Why Consider Vulcan Pumps for Your Next Submersible Pump Application?

Vulcan Pumps designs and manufactures heavy-duty submersible slurry pumps built for demanding industrial applications. From abrasive sump service to corrosive slurry environments, Vulcan pumps are engineered for dependable performance, application flexibility, and long-term service life.

Every pump is built with close attention to quality, fit, and performance. Vulcan’s quality control team inspects pump components before assembly and throughout the manufacturing process, helping ensure that each unit meets the requirements of the application before it ships to the customer.

Made in the USA

Vulcan Pumps are designed, cast, machined, assembled, and supported from the company’s facility in the Southeastern United States. By controlling patterns, casting, machining, and assembly, Vulcan is able to support consistent quality, reliable delivery, and competitive lead times.

Metallurgy Options for Abrasive and Corrosive Service

Vulcan offers a wide range of material options to match the demands of the application, including CD4MCuN, Alloy 20, Hastelloy, 2205 duplex stainless, and 2507 super duplex stainless.

For severe abrasive slurry service, Vulcan offers ASTM A532 Class III Type A high-chrome iron liquid-end castings. This material provides excellent wear resistance for tough slurry applications while also offering mild corrosion resistance.

For applications involving chemical exposure or high chloride levels, Vulcan can provide options in ASTM A890 duplex and super duplex stainless steels, including CD4, 2205, and 2507, as well as ASTM A494 high-nickel alloys such as C276 and Alloy 20. Hardware, motor shafts, and other pump components can also be manufactured in these materials when required.

Application-Specific Seal Design

Vulcan works with John Crane to provide seal designs matched to the needs of the application. This allows the pump to be configured around the actual service conditions instead of relying on a generic seal selection.

Vulcan HDS pumps are available with internal slurry seal configurations designed for severe-duty operation. Optional Super Slurry Seal designs are also available for especially demanding applications.

Locally Inventoried Parts

Vulcan pump parts are inventoried locally in Birmingham, Alabama. This helps reduce downtime by providing access to quality replacement components at reasonable pricing and short lead times.

Rebuild Program and Repair Support

Vulcan offers pump rebuild services, upgrades, and testing through its Birmingham repair facility. Repaired units can be tested before returning to the field, helping customers confirm performance and reliability before the pump is placed back into service.

Vulcan distributors can also provide trained local repair support, helping customers keep critical pumping equipment operating with less downtime.

Common Applications and Markets

Vulcan pumps are well suited for sump service where abrasive solids, corrosive fluids, or severe-duty operating conditions are present. Common markets and applications include:

  • Power generation
  • Fuel and coal handling
  • FGD service
  • Wastewater
  • Mining
  • Steel
  • Oil and gas
  • Limestone quarries
  • Bottom-ash ponds
