Many plants have scaled back on the contractors working on site and Tencarva has been able to help in some of those situations by providing Plug-and-Play fabricated skids. Many are as simple as a pump skid with an integrated and wired starter/drive. Others include filters, tanks, cooling towers, flow meters, etc.
With the recent rains causing flooding, it is not uncommon for pump systems to be totally overwhelmed. The pump system at this Virginia Aggregate Mine was designed to handle 5” over 3 days but when it received +10” over 4 days with a drainage area of +100 acres the area soon began to flood. The water was up 35 feet and rising when all the controls went under. At that point, they almost pulled the power to try and at least salvage the electrical gear. Instead as a last resort, they flipped the system to full manual on the drive and put their faith in the pump system to not flip the breakers and not stop.
Needless to say, even with the worst event at the plant in 25 years, the system ran for 14 days straight with no issues and kept a $330K MCC (motor control center) above water. The customer was very pleased with the ability of the pumping system to last with no issues in the 14 day stretch.
